Where Is It?

Bottle Beach is on the south side of Grays Harbor, between the John and Elk Rivers. This stretch of the estuary has a number of commerical oyster beds. Large numbers of shorebirds use this section of the coast, moving across the mudflats between the two rivers. Bottle Beach is important as it is the last section of mudflat to be covered at high tide so all the birds congregate in the area before moving to roost on offshore islands, round to the Elk River delta or out to the beaches opposite Westport.
